Former Toronto Blue Jays infielder Cavan Biggio signs shocking deal with the Los Angeles Angels as he returns to the MLB.
The Royals announced right before the trade deadline that they decided to DFA Biggio after 37 games in Kansas City in which he failed to impress the team enough to hold onto his roster spot.
Angels sign former Blue Jays infielder Cavan Biggio
The Angels have signed INF Cavan Biggio to a minor league deal. In 37 games with the Royals this season, Biggio hit: ▫️.174 AVG ▫️.296 OBP ▫️.246 SLG ▫️.543 OPS Can't go wrong with some depth in the minors
The Angels have already assigned him to their Triple-A affiliate team, the Salt Lake Bees where he will likely get into a game in the coming days.
Infielder Cavan Biggio, who was released by the Royals after hitting .174, signed a minor league deal with the Angels, per the official transaction log. He'll report to AAA.
The reason this move is surprising is that Biggio is now on his sixth team in in two years and has failed to impress time and time again yet continues to land new contracts.
Hopefully Biggio finds a way to work his way back up to the majors but it certainly will not be easy after putting up rough numbers with the Royals as he finished with a .174 batting average, 1 homerun and 4 RBIs in 37 games.
At 30 years old, Biggio has quite the hill the climb if he wants to return to the MLB and find a permanent spot.
