Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jimmy Robbins announced that he has accepted a new position with the Detroit Tigers as a coach following his retirement.
Robbins is not the only player to land a new deal as a coach as former Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia recently was hired as the new catching coach for the Baltimore Orioles.

After spending 4 years with the Blue Jays organization and and 5 years in professional baseball, Robbins announced his retirement as he accepted a small coaching role with the Toledo Mud Hens.
At the end of the 2024 season, Robbins announced his retirement before joining the Toledo Mud Hens' coaching staff about a year later. Blue Jays Nation reached out to Robbins, with the former Blue Jays pitcher having this to say about the opportunity: -Delaney
Robbins recently announced on social media that he has now decided to take the next step in his journey after retiring as he has accepted a job with the Tigers as their new Triple-A bullpen coach.
Excited and blessed to have been offered and accepted a position as a pitching coach in the Detroit Tigers organization. In 2026 I will be serving as the Bullpen Coach at the Triple A affiliate Toledo Mud Hens.

The Blue Jays signed Robbins back in 2019 to a minor league deal as he spent the next few years bouncing around their minor league and finishing with the Buffalo Bisons in 2024.
Robbins best season came in 2022 when he finished with a 2.59 ERA in 76.1 innings pitched across Single-A, High-A and Double-A.
After that Robbins would struggle in Double-A and Triple-A which led to him being traded to the Texas Rangers for cash in 2024.
