Toronto Blue Jays fans saw Cavan Biggio linked with the Los Angeles Dodgers on a minor league deal.

The idea popped up Monday in a Newsweek write-up that points to a Just Baseball «Playing GM» piece. The whole premise is simple, stash Biggio as depth, let the roster injuries do the rest.
If you've watched the Dodgers lately, you know why this tracks. They collect playable major leaguers like they're coupons, because someone always tweaks something by June.
Biggio is the kind of name that makes Blue Jays fans feel two emotions at once. He was drafted by the Blue Jays in 2016, and his early run looked like a long-term infield answer.
Back then he got on base, popped homers, and fit that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette timeline. MLB.com noted he posted a .368 OBP with a .798 OPS and 24 homers across his first two seasons.

Cavan Biggio and Los Angeles Dodgers depth

The hard truth is his recent stat lines are light. In 2025 he hit .174 with a .296 OBP and a .542 OPS in limited action, and his MLB.com transactions show a season full of roster churn before he elected free agency on November 6, 2025.
After Toronto dealt him to Los Angeles in June 2024 for reliever prospect Braydon Fisher, Biggio was eventually DFA'd and released by the Dodgers that summer. From there it was Kansas City, then a minor league stop with the Angels.
Still, the appeal is obvious for a contender. Biggio is a left-handed bat who can move around the diamond, and his career line sits at .223 with a .339 OBP, plus 52 homers and 33 steals.
For Toronto, it's mostly a reminder of how fast prospect shine can fade, and how useful «versatile» becomes when the bat slips. For the Dodgers, it's a low-risk bet on a guy who has already lived the big leagues.
If Biggio ends up back in Dodger blue, the next milestone is boring but real, make the roster, take a few matchup starts, and see if the patience at the plate shows up again.
