John Gibbons recently informed the New York Mets, he will not be returning as the bench coach for next season, however the Toronto Blue Jays former manager claimed he is not retiring and will look for a job with a different MLB team.

The New York Mets announced a full coaching overhaul following this season, and Gibbons chose to not be a part of it.
"Gibbons saw the Mets fall to 24-35 this season before getting the team to step up their game and go on a run that led them to a Wild Card and said that this run reminded him off the run the Blue Jays had in 2013 despite both teams having very different outcomes."-Ohr

John Gibbons announces split from New York Mets as bench coach.

Sportsnet recently broke the news of Gibbons' departure. But it is important to note that he does not plan to retire.
"Gibbons, 63, has been the Mets' bench coach the past two years under manager Carlos Mendoza. The team collapsed down the stretch this year and was eliminated from playoff contention on the final day of the season."-Sportsnet

This isn't the only staff member leaving the Mets, pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, hitting coaches Jeremy Barnes and Eric Chavez are also leaving the club. This series of departures follows the end of season collapse the Mets had, and they were eliminated from the postseason the final day of the regular season.
But what does that mean for Gibbons, who has had a successful managing/coaching career and hopes to see many more seasons to come in the dugout.
"Gibbons was manager of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2004-08 and 2013-18. The San Antonio native guided the Blue Jays to the ALCS in 2015 and '16."-Sportsnet

There would not be much of a surprise for Gibbons to be picked up fairly shortly, but in what capacity? Could he be hired as a manager and lead another team to a deep playoff run?
