The Toronto Blue Jays have been pursuing free agent pitcher Max Scherzer for the past couple weeks and it looks like they have a real shot at landing him after the latest update.
The Blue Jays seem to be the top landing spot for free agent Max Scherzer after latest update
In a recent report, MLB reporter Christopher Hennessy stated that he believes that the Blue Jays are the top landing spot for Max Scherzer this off-season as they have shown the most interest in the World Series Champion.
Hennessy believes that Scherzer would be a great addition to the Blue Jays starting rotation as they have yet to replace Yusei Kikuchi who they trade at last year's trade deadline.
Christopher Hennessy of ClutchPoints seems to think so. Hennessy recently named Toronto as one of the "best Max Scherzer landing spots" for the remainder of the offseason. -Roberts
"(The Blue Jays) traded Yusei Kikuchi for a bevy of prospects at the trade deadline last year and have not replaced him yet. Scherzer could come north of the border and help them in their American League playoff chase," Hennessy wrote.
The Blue Jays have apparently made Scherzer an offer of a one year $15 million deal which would be a solid deal as he would bring a ton of experience to a young roster and still has a solid arm.
Mad Max has to pitch for someone next season, and with him comes a wealth of knowledge and competitive spirit. Why shouldn't Toronto pay the projected $15 million (via Spotrac) that it likely will take to land him? -Roberts
It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays can get a deal done but the good news is that they seem to be the favorites to land him as of right now.
