Toronto Blue Jays catcher Tyler Heineman left yesterday's game against the Kansas City Royals with a head injury in which John Schneider gave an update on.

Heineman took a foul tip to the head which apparently bruised the side of his head which is why the Blue Jays pulled him from the game and replaced him with Ali Sanchez.

After the game yesterday, Schneider spoke to the media about the injury stating that Heineman does not seem to have any concussion symptoms for the time being but that they are waiting to see how he feels today.
"You've got to trust the doctors, trust what people are saying and make the best decision,» said Schneider. «Ali's earned our trust. He had in spring training. It's a fine line you've got to walk because you don't want to lose depth, either way. Heinie's done an amazing job this entire year. He's a big part of why we are where we are and when you're dealing with two guys out of the three, one coming off a concussion, one hopefully avoiding one, you want to be pretty careful with it. So just basically see how Tyler is overnight and into (Sunday) and go from there.» -Schneider

Schneider added that Heineman is dealing with a headache and a pain in his jaw because that is partially where he got hit but they are hoping that the injury is not serious.
"It's more of a head contusion. When I went out there, it was more kind of a headache and his jaw got it a little bit," Schneider said. "So we'll check him out tomorrow, hopefully dodge a bullet, but he's doing alright." -Schneider

Heineman will likely not be in the Blue Jays lineup this afternoon to close out the series against the Royals as Alejandro Kirk is set to make his return but this could end up being just a day off and nothing more.
Hopefully the Blue Jays do not lose another catcher as one just returns from injury.
The Blue Jays have been unable to stay healthy this season with all kinds of bad luck injuries like this one.
