John Schneider gives crucial update on Shane Bieber
Shane Bieber's second rehab outing at triple-A Buffalo is finished at 5.2 innings and 78 pitches. Allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said earlier this week the righty would get one more rehab start.
After the Blue Jays 9-1 loss yesterday to the Dodgers, Schneider told reporters that Bieber is now heading back to Toronto to look at the final steps of his recovery before he gets moved up the Blue Jays starting rotation.
Bieber is heading back to Toronto tonight and the Blue Jays will finalize next steps with him in coming days. Right now it's "probably one more" rehab outing aiming for 85ish pitches, added Schneider
Schneider also added that he watched a portion of Bieber's outing and was very impressed with his control and command of the ball.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider watched part of Shane Bieber's outing and said the right-hander "looked good, between location and stuff. Impressed with his changeup."
With the Blue Jays struggles over the last few games, especially yesterday, adding Bieber to the starting rotation in the next week or so will surely give Toronto a solid boost of confidence.
