Manager John Schneider (Age 46, Drafted Round 13, 2002 by Toronto Blue Jays) made sure his legacy was recognized immediately.
Schneider gave a touching shoutout to the legendary broadcaster before the fresh season got underway.

The players are inspired to win for our franchise legends.

Seeing the team play with so much heart gives us incredible hope that this year will finally be ours.
Fans felt a serious void when tuning in for the very first pitch yesterday.
Yet the roster on the field gave everyone a massive reason to smile.
We can feel the raw passion radiating from the dugout right now.
Holding a pristine 1-0 record is the perfect way to turn the page and start fresh.
The heartbreaking end to the 2025 World Series is still painful to think about.
But this specific roster is channeling that hurt into absolute dominance on the diamond.
Kevin Gausman (Age 35, Drafted Round 1, 2012 by Baltimore Orioles) took the mound and delivered a pure masterpiece.
He racked up an incredible 11 K and surrendered just one run over six dominant innings.
The offense showed tremendous fight to secure a thrilling 3-2 walk-off victory against the Athletics.
Andrés Giménez was clutch with a .667 AVG and 3 RBIs right out of the gate.
This determined squad is playing with a chip on their shoulder and a deep sense of purpose.
Buck might be enjoying his well-deserved rest, but his lively spirit is definitely echoing through the Rogers Centre.
Toronto is visibly ready to make this historic 50th season the most memorable one yet.
