Starting pitcher Shane Bieber decided to accept his player option this off-season and remain with the Toronto Blue Jays which has raised some worries from MLB execs.
Shane Bieber's health questioned
MLB Ken Rosenthal has been is currently at the GM Meetings in Las Vegas and during a recent episode of the Foul Territory podcast, he brought up some interesting rumors on Bieber.
According to Rosenthal, certain executives around the league are questioning how healthy Bieber is after having Tommy John surgery last season and if the reason he accepted this option was to avoid anyone looking at his arm.
"While we all would love to paint this as an altruistic act of loyalty, and maybe it is, I'm not so sure that's the case."
Shane Bieber's decision to exercise his player option for 2026 remains a curious choice to many people, says

Rosenthal did add that part of the decision was to stay in Toronto since he is clearly happy there but even in that case, why would he not became a free agent to re-sign there for more money.
Clearly people are skeptical of Bieber right now but when looking at how he played for the
Blue Jays this season, it is hard to see that he is still dealing with issues since he was a big part of the team playoff run.
At this point, the chances of any confirmation on injury problems will not come out since he is staying in Toronto for 2026, the only chance of more details coming out are if he goes down with an injury next season which might shed light on these rumors.
