Kevin Barker calls out the Blue Jays for wanting to go after a starting pitcher at the trade deadline
On Sportsnet 590 the Fan this afternoon, Kevin Barker spoke of how if the Blue Jays end up with a sixth man rotation they will end up with some big problems according to what he is hearing.
Barker believes that the Blue Jays should focus on bringing in some serious bullpen arms because he states that bringing in a sixth starting pitcher will only cause problems and they already have some solid pitchers in the rotation.
«The six-man rotation is going to be a tough thing to sell, so now you pay all your attention to your bullpen."

Jeff Blair on the other hand did not completely agree with what Barker had to say but when broken down, it is hard not to see that having as many starting pitchers as they do plus adding another at the deadline could cause issues.
The problem is that Toronto still does not know how Bowden Francis and Alek Manoah will be when they return while also still being unsure how much they can still get out of Max Scherzer.
Regardless of all of this, it looks like Ross Atkins seems to be very interested in acquiring a starting pitcher.
Even if Toronto gets a starting pitcher, they will certainly need at least one relief pitcher at the trade deadline as well.
