For the past couple of weeks, trade rumors have been swirling around the Toronto Blue Jays suggesting they may walk away from recently acquired this past offseason, Max Scherzer.

According to Fansided Zachary Rymer, Scherzer and other Blue Jays veterans may be on the block if the team continued to flounder and be out of playoff contention by the July trade deadline.

Mariners may be one team who would be interested in Scherzer

Rymer named one franchise who may look at Scherzer as a possible option for trade who happens to be the Seattle Mariners for the Blue Jays recently swept them on their western road trip.
"Whether the Mariners will need a starter depends on whether Logan Gilbert and George Kirby can hang in there after returning from the injured list, as well as on whether the injury bug finally leaves the rotation alone," Rymer wrote.

"If not, (Scherzer) would be (a sensible target). (He) has played in three World Series, the kind of experience the Mariners have an obvious reason to cherish." Jackson Roberts
Scherzer has been battling thumb inflammation for the entire season thus far and has only pitched 3 innings of work.
Many became concerned as the inflammation refused to go away and Scherzer required two shots of cortisone into his thumb to help relieve the pain.
He was recently placed on the 60-day IL and will not be available to return to the Blue Jays line up until at least May 28th. He has been recently working his thumb during his rehabilitation and there has been some progress made.

Blue Jays look to quell rumors with improved play

Rumors such as these can be quelled quite easily by the Blue Jays by winning baseball games and showing Major League Baseball that this team can win on a consistent basis considering it has the third highest payroll in the league.
Much has not gone to plan for General Manager Ross Atkins and President Mark Shapiro as the last few weeks have been difficult for the team as they were unable to hit any baseballs and earn any runs which had the team slipped below .500 an in danger of watching the season unravel.
As of late, the Jays have begun to turn things around and have had an offensive blitz where the team swept the Mariners and won their final game against the Angels and now head back to Rogers Centre in Toronto to open a nine game homestand where they will take on the Tampa Bay Rays to start.
Many hope that this recent surge is what Blue Jays management has been waiting for and with the good play of the relief pitchers and outstanding pitching by Jeff Hoffman as their closer, the Blue Jays hope their offence has ignited and these rumors may die down but they wait for Scherzer's return.
