Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt is now a free agent and a new report came on his projected new deal which is higher than most would expect.

The Blue Jays had an incredible 2025 season but will now have a busy off-season with multiple holes that will need to be filled for next season.

Update announced on Chris Bassitt's next contract

"I hope I have another chance with this group, I really do," Bassitt said in the clubhouse after Game 7, fighting back tears. "I love this group, I love these guys. But you just never know. But I would love to have another shot with this group." -Bassitt

If the Blue Jays plan on keeping Bassitt, insider Tim Britton expects an offer of two years, worth $46 million with an average salary of $23 million a year will get the deal done.
According to The Athletic's Tim Britton, he should be in line for a contract at two years and $46 million. Britton predicted Bassitt and right-hander Merrill Kelly to get identical contracts. -Camras

Bassitt was a huge part of the Blue Jays roster this season as he finished with a 3.96 ERA in 170.1 innings pitched to go along with an 11-9 record on the season.
The interesting part is that he was only used as a bullpen pitcher in the playoffs in which he did great but if the Blue Jays plan on bringing him back as a relief pitcher next season, $23 million per season might be too high for them.
Since the Blue Jays added Trey Yesavage to their starting rotation at the end of the season, they will not be forced to let go of at least of their starting pitchers for next season which is why Bassitt is not guaranteed to return.
After Shane Bieber took quite the team friendly deal by accepting his $16 million player option last night, it will be interesting to see if any other Blue Jays looking for new deal follow in his footsteps.
