The Toronto Blue Jays have a lot of decisions to make at the end of this season, most notably what to do with ace pitcher Chris Bassittas he becomes a free agent.

There has been reports lately that the Blue Jays might be willing to bring back Bassitt but it all comes down to the size of the contract but they will also have to keep an eye on all the pitchers on expiring contracts at the end of the 2026 season.

Big decision ahead for Blue Jays regarding Chris Bassitt.

Jon Conahan of the Heavy writes about the difficult decision facing the Blue Jays regarding Chris Bassitt.
"Despite his age, Spotrac had him at a two-year, $30.5 million deal. Giving him more than $15 million AAV at this stage of his career could be questionable, but he's still worth it, considering what he's done throughout the 2025 campaign. If the Blue Jays decide to move on from Bassitt, there should be a long list of suitors. Whether it be up-and-coming teams or contenders, the right-handed veteran should find a new home."-Conahan

While Bassitt wouldn't be a huge loss for the Blue Jays if they don't decide to re-sign him it would still be a hit to the rotation.
"Losing Bassitt wouldn't be the end-all, be-all for the Toronto Blue Jays. Of course, it's tough to give away an arm that has not only thrown in a ton of innings over the past three seasons, but is also throwing the baseball at a high level. However, it's also fair to mention that it isn't exactly like it'd be a gut-wrenching situation for the organization, as there are certainly starters out there they could explore if they lost him."-Conahan

Bassitt has had decent numbers posting an 11-7 record with a 4.10 ERA and 154 strikeouts. Those aren't numbers that are going to blow you away, but they are reliable and several clubs are looking for reliability this offseason.
While Bassitt isn't an ace the Blue Jays should still consider giving him a decent pay-day as he can still provide some value.
