The Toronto Blue Jays announce some unfortunate news regarding Max Scherzer as it looks like his back tightness has gotten worse.

Scherzer recently stated that his back injury was nothing too serious and that it was just a muscle issue that he should have under control in a few days but unfortunately things have not gone that way.

Blue Jays Max Scherzer's back injury has not reached his spine

In a tough loss on Sunday, Scherzer actually had a decent outing, pitching a total of 4.1 innings, giving up 3 hits, 4 earned runs and stuck out 8 batters while walking 4.
Hazel Mae announced that Scherzer is still dealing with pain in his back and it seems like the tightness has now moved to his spine.
Hazel Mae just said on the SN broadcast that Max Scherzer «continues to feel tightness in his back» and the tightness has moved down his back and closer to his spine.
Couple of notes that may have got lost in last nights chaos:

- Max Scherzer still experiencing tightness in his back, says the tightness is moving down towards his spine

- Anthony Santander's rehab assignment delayed a couple of days due to lower back tightness while swinging
Things do not look go for Scherzer who finally go his thumb injury under control but is now having more injury problems with his back.
The fact that the injury has now reached his spine is proof that it is getting worse which is very bad news for the Blue Jays who are headed for the playoffs as of right now.
The good news is that the Blue Jays have plenty of starting pitchers to replace him in the rotation such as Eric Lauer but losing him will certainly hurt their chances of going deep.
