Blue Jays named top landing spot for Padres pitcher Dylan Cease
While the Blue Jays are focused on the playoffs, rumors regarding off-season signings have already begun as Toronto has already been linked to a few players.
According to a recent report, it is believed that the Blue Jays would be the top landing spot for Dylan Cease which MLB insider Mark Feinsand announced recently.
"As baseball's insiders try to gauge the upcoming free agency market, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com believes the Blue Jays could be in the race for San Diego Padres starting pitcher Dylan Cease." -VonScio
Cease is struggling a bit this season despite the Padres having a really solid year overall as he currently has a 4.61 ERA with a 5-11 record with 137.2 innings pitched and 178 strikeouts.
Despite the down year, Cease has been incredibly consistent over the last few season with the best year of his career coming in 2022 when he played for the Chicago White Sox and finished with a 2.20 ERA in 184 innings pitched.
The Blue Jays are expected to part ways with a few pitchers this season that are currently on expiring contracts such as Chris Bassitt which is why Cease would be such a great fit.
The Blue Jays are having an incredible 2025 season and need to find a way to build off of this for the future.
