Ross Atkins speaks on Hunter Mense's sudden departure from the Blue Jays
Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins spoke to the media last night in Las Vegas and spoke on hitting coach Hunter Mense's sudden departure from the team.
Mense announced yesterday that he has decided to leave the organization as he has accepted a position with the San Francisco Giants.

While the Blue Jays expected their coaching staff to remain the same for the 2026, Mense announced yesterday that he accepted a position with the Giants making him the second coach to leave the organization.
The Giants reportedly will fill one of their key coaching vacancies with this intriguing Blue Jays assistant
Despite the unexpected news, Atkins had only good things to say about Mense and kept things very professional as he stated that he made a big difference for Toronto and is very bright.

Atkins added that moving forward, John Schneider will be in charge of finding his replacement and current hitting coach David Popkins will also have a big say in who they end up hiring.
Clearly this move was very unexpected for Toronto but Mense saw an opportunity with the Giants that he could not pass up and thought it was the right decision to make.
The Blue Jays will now have one more hole they will need to fill this off-season that they did not see coming at the end of the year.
