San Francisco Giants surprisingly hire former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher as new coach

Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Chavez has been hire by the San Francisco Giants as a coach.
Earlier last month another former Blue Jay landed a new coaching job as former catcher J.P. Arencibia was hired by the New York Mets as a catching coach.
Giants hire Jesse Chavez as bullpen coach
Back in July, Chavez broke the news that after over a decade pitching in the MLB he finally decided to retire after the Atlanta Braves decided to designate him for assignment.
Chavez has now decided to take the next step in his career as he has turned towards coaching as the Giants have hired him as their new bullpen coach for next season.
The San Francisco Giants have hired Jesse Chavez as their new bullpen coach. Chavez, 42, most recently was a reliever for the last 5 seasons (2021-2025) with the Atlanta Braves. Chavez announced his retirement from the MLB on July 24, 2025.
The funny part in all of this is that Chavez played for 9 different team throughout his almost 20 year career but ended up landing a job with the Giants, a team that he never played for.
However this is a great hire by the Giants as Chavez has loads of experience after close to two decades in the MLB will a World Series championship under his belt, he knows what it takes to win.
Many players these days are heading back into coaching as we have seen numerous former Blue Jays retire and become coaches over the last few years including Kevin Kiermaier that worked for Toronto last season.
When players no longer have what it takes to play in the MLB anymore, coaching is a great way to remain in the game and still have use for all of their knowledge they have gained throughout their years of playing.
