The departure of Seranthony Dominguez to the Chicago White Sox stings, but his candid explanation reveals a level of personal ambition that simply didn't fit our World Series timeline.

It is tough to lose a high-leverage arm who posted a 3.00 ERA down the stretch, especially after watching him battle in the World Series.
But the "surprising" reason he walked away is actually quite simple: Ego, in the best possible way.
Dominguez (Signed as Int. FA in 2011 by Philadelphia) made it clear he didn't just want to pitch; he wanted to own the ninth inning.
"I want to be the closer forever," he told reporters. "That's why I've been working hard to get the opportunity."
The Blue Jays, with Jeff Hoffman locked in and a deep bullpen committee, could not promise him that glory.
So, he took his 98 mph heater to the South Side of Chicago on a two-year, $20 million deal.
He wants to be "The Guy," even if it means joining a rebuilding squad rather than running it back with the AL Champions.
Honestly? You have to respect a player betting on himself, even if the destination scratches your head.
He logged 79 strikeouts last season (combined), proving his stuff is still electric enough to handle the pressure.

The bullpen is stronger without the drama

While Dominguez chases saves, Ross Atkins pivoted to a weapon that fits the team concept perfectly: Tyler Rogers.
Bringing in Rogers gives the Jays a unique look that Dominguez’s power profile duplicated.
We don't need a closer controversy in April; we need outs.
The pain of Game 7 is still fresh, and this roster is built for one thing: Redemption.
If Dominguez needs the "Closer" label to feel complete, then Chicago is the perfect home for him.
Meanwhile, Toronto is focused on the only title that matters—the one raised on a podium in November.
We wish Seranthony well, but the train is leaving the station, and there is no room for individual agendas on the road to a ring.
