Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Seranthony Dominguez is still looking for a new deal and despite some recent rumors, he will likely not be returning to Toronto.
The Blue Jays are still looking to add to their bullpen and some reports suggest that they might look to bring Dominguez back to Toronto but things seem to have changed since then.
Seranthony Dominguez and the Miami Marlins are approaching a deal
Dominguez was acquired by the Blue Jays at the trade deadline and ended up becoming a big part of the lineup in the playoffs thanks to his fastball that can hit over 100MPH.
As most of the top relievers have now signed, Dominguez is arguably the best relief pitcher still available which is why he is gathering interest from a few teams.
According to the latest report, Dominguez is predicted to sign with the Marlins this off-season since they just added Pete Fairbanks and are still looking to add more to their bullpen.
"Miami Marlins. After signing Pete Fairbanks to a one-year $13 million contract earlier this week, the Marlins could use some extra fire power out of their 'pen and Dominguez makes sense as a target." -Matthew Sookram
Dominguez' stats last season split between the Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles were great as he finished with a 3.16 ERA in 67 games played across 62.2 innings pitched.
Since the market is so depleted of relievers and Dominguez seems to be the best option left, it would not be a bad idea for Toronto to look into signing him but it looks like there is not much interest as of right now.
The Blue Jays seem to be focusing on adding some offense right now which why going after pitchers has taken a bit of a backseat.
