Shi Davidi states the Toronto Blue Jays only have one chance at signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr to an extension

The Toronto Blue Jays are in the middle of some massive contract extension negotiations with Vladimir Guerrero Jr and according to Shi Davidi, their is only one possibly way for them to land him before the season.
The Blue Jays made a $340 million offer to Guerrero prior to Juan Soto signing his record breaking contract in which he decided to decline as he knew his value would go up after Soto signed.

The Blue Jays seem to be in a tough situation with Vladimir Guerrero Jr as they apparently want to bring him back according to GM Ross Atkins but might not be prepared to meet his price which is over $400 million close to $500 million.
MLB insider Shi Davidi believes that the only way the Blue Jays can land Guerrero prior to the him hitting free agency next season is if they get out of their comfort zone and make him an offer closer to his targeted price.
For a deal to get done before Guerrero hits free agency, then, the Blue Jays will have to veer way out of their comfort zone and the four-time all-star first baseman will have to surrender some upside. -Davidi
While Davidi is right is this is the only solution in trying to land Guerrero, they will also need a little luck of their side as Guerrero will have to decide to grab security over testing the free agent market where he could likely land a bigger contract.
The Blue Jays offer will need to be big enough to make Guerrero not want to test out the free agent market which means they will need to hit or come very close to his target.
The challenge for the Blue Jays, then, is buying Guerrero out of the opportunity to see how high the open market might push his salary, especially if he delivers another monster season. -Davidi
Hopefully the Blue Jays get a deal done because if not they will either be forced to trade him and if not there's a chance they lose him while getting nothing out of it free agency.
