Former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez recently sat down with Shi Davidi and spoke of how close he was to re-signing in Toronto last off-season.

The Blue Jays had an extremely tough series against the Dodgers this weekend but thankfully were able to at least walk away with a win yesterday thanks to rookie pitcher Mason Fluharty.

Former Blue Jays Teoscar Hernandez speaks on almost re-signing in Toronto

During last off-season, there were a lot of rumors regarding Hernandez possibly returning to Toronto since they were looking to add some offense during free agency but he ended up re-signing with the Dodgers.
Hernandez sat down with Davidi over the weekend and mentioned how he was actually very close to coming back to Toronto in free agency but that the team said it would only work if they could complete a certain move which looks like it did not happen.
«We actually came really close to a reunion so I can come back to Toronto,» said Hernandez. «They were trying to do a couple of things, I'm not going to say what, but they were trying to do a couple things first. And they said if this worked out, we can get together, we can sit down and talk about a contract. So, yes, it was really close.» -Hernandez

The former Jay also stated that ever since leaving Toronto, he often watches their game as it seems he is still very close with Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bo Bichette and George Springer.
The Dodgers ended up signing Hernandez to a three year contract worth $66 million while the Blue Jays signed Anthony Santander to a 6 year $92.5 million contract for the additional offense they were looking for.
Unfortunately, Hernandez has been on fire this season as he currently has 18 homeruns and 69 RBIs in 96 games this season while Santander has been on IL for the majority of the season and prior to that was having the worst year of his career.
Hearing this interview from Hernandez is not easy for Blue Jays fans to hear since it seems like he was very close to returning.
