The Toronto Blue Jays projected lineup for the start of the 2025 season has recently been announced by Keegan Matheson and it does not look good for Alan Roden.

Roden has been absolutely incredible in camp so far this Spring especially at the plate which is why many believed he would be surely be in the lineup for Opening Day since they need all the help they can get on offense but Matheson seems to think otherwise.

Terrible news announce for Blue Jay top prospect Alan Roden

Roden has been by far the biggest surprise at camp since everyone knew he was a great hitter but he showed up to Spring Training this year and has been absolutely dominant up until now.
There is still a chance for Roden to make the team since Spring Training is not completely done yet but the current Opening Day roster projections has Davis Schneider and Joey Loperfido in left field with Roden starting the year in Triple-A.
Left field (2): Davis Schneider, Joey Loperfido
No. 5 prospect Alan Roden has put himself on the doorstep of this roster and a strong finish to camp could kick that door down but for now, it still feels like he'll start in Triple-A Buffalo where he can play every day for the first month or two.

Schneider has put together a very nice camp and there's a reason the Blue Jays stuck with him through his 2024 struggles. One of Springer or Loperfido will handle left field most days, but if Schneider can crush lefties, there's value. -Matheson

While it partially makes sense for Davis Schneider to be on the team to start the season since he has been having a solid camp and made the team last year, his struggles from 2024 are definitely worrying.
Schneider started off the 2024 season on an incredible hot streak but quickly fell apart later on in the season and finished the year in a big slump as one of the Blue Jays worst hitters.
Roden definitely has less experience than Schneider but at the same time he seems to have much more skill which is why having him start the season in Triple-A has a lot of fans quite surprised.
