Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remains out for John Schneider, and the Blue Jays are again building a lineup without their best bat against the Marlins.

That is the story on Toronto's card tonight. Guerrero is still not ready to return, so the Blue Jays have to chase offense another way.

George Springer stays in the leadoff spot as the designated hitter. Daulton Varsho follows him in center field, which keeps speed and left-handed balance near the top.

Jesús Sánchez moves into the three-hole in right field. That is a bigger run-producing assignment with Guerrero still missing from the middle of the order.

Kazuma Okamoto bats cleanup at third base. Yohendrick Piñango follows in left field, giving Toronto another young bat in a spot that matters.

Ernie Clement hits sixth at second base, while Andrés Giménez stays at shortstop in the seven spot. Brandon Valenzuela catches and Lenyn Sosa handles first base from the nine hole.

The other big detail sits on the mound. Braydon Fisher opens the game, which tells you John Schneider is again leaning into a flexible pitching plan.

Why Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s absence changes everything

This is not just one player missing from one lineup. When Guerrero is out, everyone behind Springer and Varsho gets pushed into a heavier offensive job.

That starts with Sánchez and Okamoto. Both now hit in places where one swing can decide the whole shape of the night, especially if Toronto gets traffic early.

It also puts more pressure on Piñango. Hitting fifth is not a soft landing for a young outfielder, and the Blue Jays clearly want his bat involved in real scoring spots.

Sosa at first base is the clearest reminder of what Guerrero's absence does to the lineup card. Toronto is not simply replacing a name. It is changing the entire look of the infield and the middle order.

There is still a little upside in the way Schneider built this one. Springer and Varsho can set the table, Sánchez gives the lineup some force, and Okamoto still offers real damage potential if the first inning gets moving.

But the margin is thinner without Guerrero. The Blue Jays need cleaner at-bats, better sequencing, and more contribution from spots that usually carry less of the load.

That is why tonight's lineup matters. It is not just another posted card against Miami. It is John Schneider trying to piece together enough offense while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remains on the bench.
