The New York Yankees have apparently made an offer to the Arizona Diamondbacks for one of the Toronto Blue Jays top trade deadline targets.
The Blue Jays have been linked to the Diamondbacks quite a bit over the last few weeks especially with rumors surrounding Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly since they are looking for a starting pitcher.
Yankees looking to steal the Blue Jays top trade deadline target from the Diamondbacks
Toronto clearly needs a new starting pitcher to add to their rotation with all the uncertainties surrounding Max Scherzer, Alek Manoah and Bowden Francis which is why they have been linked to so many pitchers at the trade deadline.
According to reports, the Yankees have put an offer in which would involved a trade with the Diamondbacks for Merrill Kelly, Eugenio Suarez and Jalen Beeks.
Ricky Ricardo, the Spanish Radio voice of the Yankees:
"There's a proposal on the table...5 Yankees prospects, not Lombard, not Jones. 5 prospects including Schlittler to the Diamondbacks for Merrill Kelly, Eugenio Suarez, and Jalen Beeks."

While the Blue Jays are not interested in Suarez or Beeks, they have been linked to Kelly quite a bit over the last couple of weeks since he would be a perfect fit for them.
If Toronto were to miss out on this trade and the Yankees ended up with Kelly it would be the worst situation possible since they would lose their top trade target and on top of that he would be going to their top divisional rival.
The good news is that the Blue Jays have quite a few more options if they were to lose Kelly to the Yankees but it still would not help that the team right behind them in the standings just got that much better.
GM Ross Atkins has a lot of pressure heading into the trade deadline since the team has not been this good in a very long time or even ever which is why he needs to make some serious moves in the coming days.
