Toronto Blue Jays veteran outfielder George Springer was hit to head by a pitch last night and after the team finally announced the results of the scans.
Blue Jays announce update after George Springer's scans
After the game, manager John Schneider stated that Springer has been alert the entire time since being hit by the pitch and that trainers had him undergo testing right away after he left the game.
After getting hit in the shoulder and helmet with a pitch & exiting the game, George Springer continues undergoing testing with Jays trainers. «Thankfully he was able to turn a little bit, too,» mgr John Schneider said. «He was alert the whole time.»
Apparently Springer was able to turn his head at the right time which caused the ball to clip his shoulder before hitting him in the head which softened the blow.
George Springer is being examined further right now but «is doing all right,» said manager John Schneider. Ball clipped Springer's shoulder before deflecting up toward side of the helmet.
Schneider said he was alert the whole time after being hit.
According to Keegan Matheson, Springer is feeling a lot better today and is currently with the team but will not be in the lineup for game 1 of the double header against the Orioles but might play in game 2 tonight.
George Springer is feeling better and he's here with the team, just not in the #BlueJays' lineup for Game 1.
This is huge for both Springer and the Blue Jays as it means the injury is not as serious as expected and they will not end up missing out on him for too long.
The head scans seem to come back negative which is why Springer is back with the team.
