Blue Jays announce update on George Springer after taking a fastball to the head
Late in the Blue Jays loss to the Orioles tonight,
Springer took a very scary 96 MPH fastball straight to head which caused him to leave the game.
According to reports, the ball luckily mostly hit Springer in the ear and the team was happy to see that he was able to leave the field on his own two feet.
Very, very scary scene with George Springer being hit in the face by a 96 mph sinker. Luckily, it seems it caught most of his ear flap on the helmet.
Encouraging to see him walk off under his own power. #BlueJays
George Springer is up and walking off the field after being hit on the side of the head by a 96 mph fastball from Kade Strowd T9.
Scary incident silenced crowd of 20,176 at Camden Yards, which gave Springer a standing ovation as he got up
The good news is that Springer was able to walk after the play and it did not seem to strike him directly in the head but they will have to run some tests to see if there is any real injury there.
Hopefully everything with Springer is alright as the Blue Jays simply cannot afford to lose another player to injury right now but thankfully everything is alright for right now.
