The Toronto Blue Jays announce a shocking new signing as they have once again agreed to terms with young pitcher, this time it is Roberto Castallanos.
The Blue Jays have spent a lot of time this season signing young players to improve their farm system such as LHP Mason Olson who they signed earlier in the week to a minor league deal.

The Blue Jays have spent a lot of time this season looking to improve their farm system that has been ranked as one of the worst in the league over the last few seasons.
The Blue Jays announced that they have once again signed a young pitcher, Roberto Castallanos to a minor league deal and have assigned him to the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays red.

This move is a bit of shock because it seems that almost ever young player that the Blue Jays have signed this off-season has been pitchers which leaves them quite vulnerable when it comes to other positions.
Proof is that earlier in the season, catcher Tyler Heineman went down with a concussion and the Blue Jays barely had anyone to replace him with because they have so little catcher depth.
Fans are happy to see the Blue Jays add pitching depth but they also need to look at bringing in other types of young prospects like infielders, catchers and outfielders.
There is not a lot known about Castallanos apart from the fact that he is 18 years old, 6'0 tall and weighed in at a slim 150 lbs.
Hopefully he will prove that this was not a waste of a signing on another prospect pitcher during his time in the Dominican Summer League.
