The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to close blockbuster deal with the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline
The Toronto Blue Jays main concern heading into the trade deadline are a pitcher and right handed batter which is why they are looking at a blockbuster trade with the Miami Marlins.
During a recent press conference, GM Ross Atkins stated that he wants to add pitching depth and a right handed hitter if he can at the deadline but with the way the Blue Jays are currently playing, he will likely only make a move if the return makes sense.

The Marlins are currently on a hot streak as they just won their eighth game in a row but with a 38-46 record, there will surely be sellers once again at the trade deadline at the end of Juy.
The Miami Marlins, who've surprisingly won eight straight, will be sellers yet again this season. That's no surprise, and neither is that it's only a matter of time until they trade Alcantara. But they don't have to rush into that decision by July 31. -Hall
According to multiple reports, the Marlins will look to trade all-star pitcher Sandy Alcantara who is currently having an awful season with a 6.98 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 80 innings pitched in 2025.
Despite a terrible year in 2025 so far, Alcantara in a Cy Young winning pitcher and could definitely benefit from a change of scenery.

With all the uncertainty that surrounds Max Scherzer and Bowden Francis, the Blue Jays need another starting pitcher and since Alcantara is struggling so much, they might be able to land him at quite the discount.
While Alcantara is a great option for Toronto, there will also be a load of talented starting pitchers available at the deadline which is why it should be interesting to see who they end up with.
