The Toronto Blue Jays announced late last night that they have decided to outright Nick Sandlin and the reasoning behind the move seems to have finally been revealed.
Blue Jays to part ways with Nick Sandlin
Sandlin only saw action in 19 games this season due to injury issues but put up an impressive 2.20 ERA in that short period of time for the
Blue Jays.
Due to his solid numbers and little amount of playing time in 2025, fans were a bit surprised to seem him move off of the 40 man roster last night.
The Toronto Blue Jays sent RHP Nick Sandlin outright to AAA Buffalo.
MLB insider Ben Nicholson-Smith revealed that the Blue Jays completed the move as an early non-tender as they wanted to open up more space on their payroll and roster.
According to the report, Sandlin is now expected to become a free agent.
The Blue Jays outrighted Nick Sandlin off their 40-man roster yesterday in what amounts to an early non-tender.
The move opens up a 40-man spot (Jays now at 37) & clears a projected $2 million (via @mlbtraderumors) from the Jays' arb class. Sandlin likely to become a free agent.
This does not come as a massive surprise since the Blue Jays have been linked to a ton of relievers this off-season as one of their top priorities is to improve their bullpen and it looks like they did not see Sandlin as part of that future.
