The Toronto Blue Jays continue to have problems with their starting rotation which is why they have selected starting pitcher Lazaro Estrada's contract and called him up.
Blue Jays select Lazaro Estrada's contract and bring him up from the Buffalo Bisons
The Blue Jays announce early this morning that they have selected Lazaro Estrada's contract and that he has been officially called up from the Buffalo Bisons to make his debut with the Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays have called up Cuban right-hander Lazaro Estrada to MLB, according to sources.
Estrada, 26, thus completes a long eight-year journey with the Blue Jays, which included undergoing Tommy John surgery.
He is represented by Carlos Perez of R&I Total Sports.
Estrada has been solid in Buffalo so far this season as he currently has a 4.75 ERA in 60.2 innings pitched and a 2-4 record but these numbers are not stellar either.
While the Blue Jays currently sit in first place, this does not mean they do not have problem as they are still having starting rotation problems due to injuries which is why a player like Estrada is getting a chance in the first place.
Most teams would likely not call up a player with a 4.75 ERA in the minors but unfortunately the Blue Jays do not really have a choice.
