The Toronto Blue Jays have some major decisions to make when it comes to their 40 man roster and Ricky Tiedemann as the deadline is on Tuesday.

The Blue Jays recently removed Tiedemann from 60 day IL after missing the entire 2025 season due to his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Blue Jays need to decide if they want to keep Ricky Tiedemann

Every team in the MLB, including the Blue Jays need to submit their 40 man rosters by Tuesday to see which players they are protecting from the Rule 5 draft in December.
That's the day all 30 MLB teams have to submit their 40-man rosters and there are some interesting names currently on the table that the Blue Jays have to make a big decision on. -Sookram

Tiedemann is not the only player that can end up being left off the 40 man roster by Tuesday as the Blue Jays are at risk of losing 5 top prospects if they are left unprotected.
The five names up for consideration are all top 13 prospects in the Blue Jays system. That includes LHP Ricky Tiedemann (No. 4), OF Yohendrick Pinango (No. 7), OF Victor Arias (No. 9), SS Josh Kasevich (No. 12) and C Edwin Duran (No. 13). As of Saturday morning the Blue Jays have 37 players on the 40-man and there are pros and cons to each individual player on this list. -Sookram

The Blue Jays currently have 3 spots on their 40 man roster available after Nick Sandlin was outright sent to the Buffalo Bisons earlier this week.
Out of the bunch, Tiedemann seems to be the one with the best chance at being protected by after how his last couple of years have gone, there is no guarantee.
Tiedemann was considered one of the Blue Jays top prospect for a few years now but has dealt with a lot of injury problems that has kept him off the mound and from progressing.
Now that the Blue Jays have Trey Yesavage who has made the jump to the MLB, they might end up simply cutting their loses with him as they did with Alex Manaoh.
