The Toronto Blue Jays have announced their first signing of the off-season as they have signed for Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Wilfredo Cordero to a minor league deal.

The Blue Jays have been talking about bringing in pitchers this season and while the fans are expecting bigger signings the Blue Jays decided to start things off with a minor league deal to get their feet wet.

The Blue Jays have signed Wilfredo Cordero to a minor league deal

The Blue Jays have agreed to terms on a minor league deal with 22 year old pitcher Wilfredo Cordero and have already assigned him to the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays.
Per the transactions page, the #BlueJays have made their first signing: RHP Wilfredo Cordero

Cordero is currently in Dominican Summer League
It may have slipped under the radar but the Blue Jays made their first off-season signing yesterday. They picked up Wilfredo Cordero, a 22 year old pitcher who has yet to make it above rookie league. In 41.2 career IP he has an ERA of 12.96. He did not play professionally in 2024
This is an interesting choice by the Blue Jays who definitely need pitchers in their organization but Cordero did not play in 2024 as he was released by the Brewers before the season started.

Prior to that, Cordero played in the Brewers minor league system in 2023 and the Rangers minor league system in 2022 where he pitched 41.2 innings and putting up a 12.96 ERA across that time.
While this is only a minor league signing, it is nice to see the Blue Jays get the ball rolling this off-season and hopefully there is more signings to come.
