The Blue Jays saw Guerrero go down last week as he was hit by a pitch but thankfully x-rays confirmed that he did not have a fracture and he did not end up missing significant time.
Blue Jays looking to possibly reunite with former slugger Rowdy Tellez
The Mariners announced last week that they surprisingly decided to DFA Tellez which came a bit as a surprising move since he has put up decent numbers so far this season.
Rowdy Tellez was recently released from the Mariners, but he honestly was not even that bad.
He was slightly below average at the plate, posting a 92 wRC+ with 11 home runs and a .682 OPS. Obviously not good enough for Seattle's playoff push, but still not awful. -Dionis
While Tellez is not the hitter he once was, the Blue Jays could bring him in at a low cost and likely get some solid use out of him especially if hitting coach David Popkins works his magic on him.
Since he is jobless right now, Toronto should quickly offer a minor league contract ">to the former Blue Jay.
The left handed power bat could very well improve the depth at first base, while providing power upside.
He may not be what he once was when he blasted 35 homers in a year, but he still could bring a solid tools to a coaching staff that could truly help him. -Dionis
So far this season with the Mariners, Tellez had 11 homeruns and 27 RBIs with a .208 batting average and .249 on base percentage in 173 at bats.
Tellez is not that far removed from his 35 homerun season which came in 2022 with the Milwaukee Brewers which is why there is a small possibility that the Blue Jays can get him back to being a version of the hitter he once was.
If Toronto brings Tellez in, it could be an interesting move to help them with offense while Anthony Santander is still out and if any other injuries arise in the future.
