The Toronto Blue Jays are among the league's hottest teams whenever they're playing at home during a homestand.

The Blue Jays have gone through streaky stretches, hot one month, cold the next, but they've now found their rhythm and are hitting their stride in what's shaping up to be a strong 2025 MLB season.

What's driving the Blue Jays up the power rankings?

Maddy Hudak from the Toronto Blue Jays On Si writes that just under two weeks ago, on June 25, the Blue Jays trailed the New York Yankees by 3.5 games in the AL East. But after back-to-back series sweeps of the Yankees and Los Angeles Angels, completing a flawless homestand, the Jays now boast the third-best record in the American League at 52-38.
"Rowan Kavner with FOX Sports recently released the latest MLB power rankings and a critical stat for each club. The Blue Jays had one of the highest jumps, moving up six spots to No. 6 as the third-best team in the AL behind the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros. On an eight-game winning streak, Toronto is undoubtedly one of the hottest teams in the league at this point in the campaign." -Hudak

However, all but one of those victories came on home turf. The stat cited by Kavner to explain their position in the rankings highlights this home-field dominance.
«They're now riding a W8 after sweeping the Yankees and Angels in a perfect homestand. The Jays have the highest home OPS in the AL, which helps explain their 32-16 record at Rogers Centre." -Kavner

The Blue Jays' .795 OPS at home ranks second in all of baseball, trailing only the Los Angeles Dodgers. Delving deeper, they also boast the league's second-highest home wRC+ at 122. Their 65 home runs at Rogers Center tie for fourth most across the MLB. All of this contributes to an impressive 32-16 home record.
"To look definitively at the postseason, that play needs to permeate wins on the road. Toronto is 20-22 in away games. Their .600 OPS on the road is No. 26 in baseball. Their 87 wRC+ hovers around that at No. 25. With 29 home runs on the road, the Blue Jays rank last in the MLB. Nothing about their recent dominance should be discounted, but it should be viewed through a slightly critical lens." -Hudak

With two road series remaining before the All-Star break, Toronto has a prime chance to build on their recent momentum and prove they can compete away from home, an essential step toward becoming genuine contenders.
