The Toronto Blue Jays have a serious problem on their hands when it comes to Bowden Francis as it looks like he might be optioned to the minors sooner rather than later.
Blue Jays might look to option Bowden Francis one he returns from injury
The Blue Jays biggest issue this season has been the starting rotation and within that rotation, Francis has struggled the most by far which is why many believe the Blue Jays need to move him.
According to reports, many believe that once he is healthy, the Blue Jays should option Francis back down to Triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons so that he can try and find some stability in his game.
FanSided's Vanessa Serrao recently suggested the Blue Jays should cut ties with pitcher Bowden Francis this season, urging the team to demote him to Triple-A. -Pressnell
"With the return of Max Scherzer from injury and the potential for other pitchers like Adam Macko to be ready, Francis's spot in the rotation is in jeopardy. Francis has struggled recently, particularly giving up runs and walks, leading to short outings. He has one minor league option remaining, making him a viable candidate for a demotion to AAA." -Serrao
Optioning Francis down to the minors might be the best move for both him and the team since he clearly is not the same pitcher that fans saw in the second half of last season.
Since the Blue Jays have Scherzer returning, Alek Manoah set to be back in August and they are looking to bring in a pitcher at the trade deadline, it only makes sense for them to either trade Francis or send him down.
While Francis has had moments of brilliance, he clearly has problems when it comes to consistency which he needs to work on.
