Blue Jays activate George Springer and option Joey Loeprfido
ROSTER MOVES:
OF George Springer reinstated from the 7-day IL and will be active today
OF Joey Loperfido optioned to Triple-A
#BlueJays announce they've optioned Joey Loperfido to Triple-A to make room for George Springer.
Most expected that Loperfido would be the one moved once Springer returned as all the other options in Davis Schneider, Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw have been playing better than him.
Loperfido has had a decent season this year with the Blue Jays with a .358 batting average, .409 on base percentage with 3 homeruns and 10 RBIs in 81 at bats but he has struggled a bit more lately.
Over his last 7 games, Loperfido had 2 hits and 5 strikeouts with a .182 batting average and .308 on base percentage which is the reason he was optioned this morning.
While Loperfido is headed back down to Triple-A, he has proved to management that he certainly can be an impact player for them in the future as he will be able to grow with their young core.
