The Toronto Blue Jays have one of the most beloved broadcast team's in the MLB with Buck Martinez and Dan Shulman but as Martinez is now 72 years old, they will need to replace him at some point.
Blue Jays might have found Buck Martinez' replacement in Joe Siddall
Throughout Martinez' absence, Joe Siddall has stepped up as he has been his backup for the third season in a row and fans are loving it so far.
For the third year now, Siddall has been the steady backup to Martinez after the latter trimmed his workload to 100 games a season. -Longley
According to reports,
Siddall is expected to be Martinez' replacement whenever the time comes for him to officially retire from the game of baseball which has been his entire life from player to manager and now in the booth.
He also has emerged as the heir apparent to Martinez, whenever the day comes that Buck stops talking baseball for a Canada-wide TV audience -Longley
While looks like Siddall will end up taking over in the future for Martinez and teaming up with Dan Shulman, Martinez has no plan on retiring any time soon even though he has been appearing in less games lately.
To be clear, Martinez has no plans to go anywhere even though he has been absent for the past 22 games for what he described as regular time off in his reduced schedule. -Longley
Due to having played in the MLB for a few seasons as a catcher,
Siddall much like Martinez has insight that a lot of broadcasters do not which is why he would be a good fit to replace Martinez when the time comes.
It will be a sad day for Blue Jays fans when Martinez decides to retire but at least they know they will be in good hands.
