Blue Jays interested in trading for Cardinals Ryan Helsley
The Blue Jays are basically in thee same spot they were last year at this point and are looking to make some changes which is why they are looking at multiple trade options to shake things up.
According to reports, the Blue Jays might be interested in trading for Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley at this year's trade deadline and possibly even before if they do not want to wait too long.
On Thursday, Clutchpoints' Zachary Howell named St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley, a two-time National League All-Star and Reliever of the Year, as a top hypothetical trade target for the Jays at the Jul. 31 deadline. -Roberts
Apparently Helsley is looking for a change of scenery and Toronto could be exactly for that since he would be joining a young team that has a promising future.
"The 30-year-old is in desperate need of a change of scenery, and the Blue Jays could be a great fit for him." -Howell
Helsley is set to become a free agent at the end of the year which means that the Blue Jays could acquire him for a cheap price as a rental then sign him to a contract extension.
So far this season Helsley has been off to a bit of a slower start but has still be productive with a 3.46 ERA along with 6 saves in 13 games and 13 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched.
