The Toronto Blue Jays are among the most intriguing teams in Major League Baseball right now, and the decisions they make in the coming months could have a major impact on the franchise's trajectory moving forward.
Sportswriter Kerry Miller named Tyler Anderson of the Los Angeles Angeles Angels as a potential trade candidate for the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays currently sit in third and are 3 games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East.
Jon Conahan from The Sporting News writes that on paper, the Blue Jays have the talent to hold their own against most teams in the American League. But in the stacked AL East, where the Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles, and Jays all have a legitimate shot at the division crown, the margin for error is razor thin.
"After finishing with a 3.81 ERA in 179 1/3 innings a year ago, and currently owning a 2.08 ERA, he'd be someone the Blue Jays should consider if they want to compete with the top squads in the division." -Conahan
Anderson, who's expected to be a rental and likely won't cost a team a significant prospect package, has pitched at an above-average level over the past year and a half, making him an appealing option for contenders looking to bolster their rotation.
"A contending team can always use some pitching, and there could be a few arms available." -Conahan
I guess we'll have to wait and see where the Blue Jays stand closer to the MLB trade deadline in July before any actual trades are discussed.
