The Toronto Blue Jays announced that starting pitcher Bowden Francis seems to be progressing quite a bit in his recovery and could be back for the post-season.
Blue Jays might have Bowden Francis back in time for the playoffs
The Blue Jays were underwhelmed with Francis' season in 2025 as many thought he would be excellent after how he finished the 2024 season but unfortunately that was not the case as he has a 6.05 ERA in 64 innings pitched this season.
According to recent reports, Francis has continue to progress in his recovery as his fastball was up to 93 MPH yesterday and is expected to pitch again against live hitter on Friday.
Bowden Francis (shoulder) was up to 93-mph and felt good while throwing an inning against live hitters at Blue Jays complex in Dunedin on Saturday.
He'll throw live again on Friday as he continues to rebuild volume.
If Francis continue to progress at this rate, it looks like he could be a late depth addition for the Blue Jays bullpen in the playoffs.
Assuming no setbacks, Bowden Francis is going to pitch for this team in the post-season at some point this year
Adding Francis could be great for the Blue Jays bullpen in the post-season but it all depends on which version of Francis they end up getting.
If Francis was able to find his game during his time off, adding him to the bullpen could be a huge difference maker but if not it could end up being very costly.
