The Toronto Blue Jays have had a near perfect offseason, adding Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, and strengthening the bullpen they are almost all the way there, but they lack a star slugger in the lineup, and it's going to come down to Kyle Tucker, Bo Bichette, or even Cody Bellinger.
Nick Ziegler of Blue Jays SI reported on the missing piece for the Blue Jays. They need a big hitter no other way around it, it will come down to Tucker or Bichette most likely, even though Bellinger is an excellent option as well.
"While the additions to the pitching staff make the team better in that area, Toronto needs to figure out what its plan is going to be to add a slugger this winter. Of the top sluggers available, it will likely come down to either Bichette or Kyle Tucker for the Blue Jays to decide on. "-Ziegler
While Bichette is significantly cheaper, he is a weakness on the defensive side of things, and it seems to have held the Blue Jays head office back from offering him a deal, they are much more concentrated on Tucker who offers the best of both worlds at the plate and in the outfield, but he us significantly more expensive.
"However, while Tucker would be an impactful addition, the cost would not be cheap. The Blue Jays haven't been shy about spending money of late, and they would certainly have to open up their wallets to land the star outfielder. Overall, whether it be Tucker or Bichette, it feels like signing one of these stars is what's needed for the team to complete what could be a fantastic offseason. "-Ziegler
The Blue Jays need to come to a decision soon, both free agents aren't going to sit around and wait much longer, they want a place to play. It might come down to them making a definitive choice between the two, and they need to be ready on who they want to go after.
