Trey Yesavage makes history in MLB playoff debut
The Blue Jays took a risk starting such a young pitcher in game 2 of the ALDS but Yesavage made sure to make the organization look very good with this decision.
Yesavage ended up pitching a total of 5.1 inning before getting taken out of the game with zero runs allowed, 11 strikeouts and 18 whiffs with only 1 walk allowed which came in the first inning.
Can't draw up a better post-season debut than that from Trey Yesavage.
5.1 no-hit IP, 11 Ks (1 shy of matching his season high) with 18 whiffs & only 1 walk allowed.
Plus, with Yesavage only throwing 78 pitches, he'd be available for a potential Game 5. #BlueJays
Yesavage only made his MLB debut in September and began playing professional baseball this season which is why all of these numbers are even more spectacular.
When looking back at the 2024 MLB draft, it is incredible that the Blue Jays were able to pick Yesavage so late into the first round with how incredible he has been in his first season.
Shane Bieber takes the mound for game 3 and will certainly have quite a bit of pressure on him with how well Kevin Gausman and Yessavage pitched in the first two games.
