The Toronto Blue Jays have been activate over the last few days signing new deals as they have now agreed to a deal with catcher Isay Veras.
The Blue Jays announced yesterday afternoon that they agreed to a new deal with Cuban pitcher Alieski Torres with a $200,000 signing bonus.
Blue Jays sign catcher Isay Veras
Minor league signings never get much attention especially with younger players which is exactly what happened with Veras.
The news was not announced by the Blue Jays as they simply posted the signing on their transactions log that they agreed to a minor league deal with the 5'9 catcher last night.
Bluejays are finishing off their 2025 IFA class. It was reported yesterday we signed Alieksi Torres. I've heard we came to an agreement with catcher Isay Veras
There is not much known about Veras apart that he is 5'9 catcher weighing in at 180 lbs and most recently played in the MLB amateur scouting league for Light-Blue North and Red-North but his stats are not available.
While the Blue Jays front office continues to look at big time players to add to their roster and are still in negotiations with some big names, Ross Atkins has continue to add to the teams farm system.
This Veras signing is seen as not significant to most fans as of right now, these minor league deals are important for the team's future as some of these players might end up turning out into stars down the road.
The Blue Jays are known for not having much catcher depth in their system which is why this signing is clearly a smart decision.
