The Toronto Blue Jays have a lot of good prospects in their system, but one that is coming as an unexpected surprise is Cutter Coffey, he was part of the Danny Jansen trade with the Boston Red Sox, and he is starting to turn some heads.
After an impressive season in High-A,, and a good outing in the Arizona Fall League, he seems ready to make the jump to Double-A.
Blue Jays prospect Cutter Coffey ready for the next step.
Jared Bloom of Yahoo Sports reported on the Blue Jays prospect, who really made his mark at the AFL, with an incredible slash, people will be paying closer attention to him this summer, when he makes the jump to Double-A.
"His stock is trending up after a strong season at High-A and a solid run in the Arizona Fall League. He has spent parts of the last three seasons at the High-A level, but after hitting .328/.427/.406 over 18 games in the AFL, he looks ready to make the jump to Double-A."-Bloom
With Arjun Nimmala in the system, it would be hard for Coffey to get anytime at shortstop, but he has a strong arm, that would be useful at third base. He used to be a pitcher before making the switch. And it's a big asset to have in the infield.
"Coffey is coming off a great performance in the Arizona Fall League and could make the jump to Double-A in 2026. On top of the offense he produced, scouts highly regard his arm, as he was a former pitcher. With Nimmala in the system, his days at shortstop are likely over. However, he could use that big arm of his to slide over to third base."-Bloom
While experts say the Blue Jays do not have the best prospect pool, they are continuously finding diamonds in the rough, that surprise everyone and turn out to be solid Major Leaguers. And Coffey could be the next one.
