Baseball never stops as the MLB fall league is currently taking place, and Toronto Blue Jays prospect Cutter Coffey is finally proving his value, after a few years of struggling, it seems he has found his stride.
Cutter Coffey heating up in Arizona under Blue Jays system.
After not performing too well since being traded by the Boston Red Sox for Danny Jensen, he seems to have found his game this fall.
"After three relatively weak slash lines in the minors, Coffey finally got his bat going in 2025. He slashed .273/.359/.427 with 11 home runs and 62 RBI. He was moved to the 7-day injured list on Aug. 9 and returned to the roster on Aug. 27. Shortly after, Toronto opted to let him play in the AFL, reasoning that he would get the at-bats he lost on the IL."-Postins
Now with the Desert Dogs, Coffrey has played 16 games and has a slash line of .317/.397/.383 and 13 RBI's, no home runs unfortunately but still very solid numbers. He has now entered the top 30 Blue Jay's prospects as the MLB Pipeline has him at #27.
"The Red Sox selected Coffey in the second round of the 2022 MLB draft out of Liberty High School in Bakersfield, Calif. Boston dropped him into the system later that summer and he played in 11 games with their Florida Complex League team, where he batted .125."-Postins
The Blue Jays will need prospects like Coffey to keep moving up their way through the ranks, look at what Trey Yesavage has done for them this season.
Building a great team cannot only be through trades and signings, it needs to built from within as well through player development and the Blue Jays have been doing a great job at it as of late.
