The Toronto Blue Jays might be without Bo Bichette for quite some time after the latest report but there might be a plan to get him back sooner than expected.
"The Blue Jays have stressed patience, but Schneider acknowledged Bichette could return at DH before he's ready to play defense." -ESPN
Schneider stated that they would love for him to return to the field but if that is not possible and he is feeling good enough to hit, they might end up using him as their DH.
"In a perfect world, if he can come back and play short, great," Schneider said. "We'll see how this goes. With how he's moving, it seems to me that hitting will be a little bit in front of everything else. I think we'll know more tomorrow or the next day, but if we can get his bat back, hell yeah, I'll take that." -Schneider
Up until his injury, Bichette was leading the Blue Jays and the MLB in hits showing that having him back just as a DH could be a significant impact for the Blue Jays offense in the playoffs.
So far this season, Bichette has 18 homeruns, 94 RBIs with a .311 batting average and .357 on base percentage in 139 games played.
The Blue Jays are clearly feeling the pressure of possibly being without Bichette for the playoffs which is why they are looking at any way they could possibly put him into the lineup.
Bichette's second opinion stated that it is a short term injury which hopefully means he will be back in time for game 1 of the playoffs even if it is just as a hitter.
