The Toronto Blue Jays just missed out one of their trade targets as the New York Mets came in and traded for Baltimore Orioles pitcher Gregory Soto.
The Blue Jays have been having a lot of issues with their bullpen and not because they are playing poorly but because of all the injuries they currently have including Ryan Burr who just went down for the season.
Blue Jays miss out on Gregory Soto as the Mets trade for him
Toronto was apparently interested in trading for
Soto as they are currently in need of at least one reliever and the Orioles will be sellers at the deadline since the have no chance of making the playoffs.
Unfortunately, the
Mets acquired Soto today in exchange for prospects Wellington Arecena and Cameron Foster which means the Blue Jays could have gotten Soto for a small return as well.

SOURCE: The #BlueJays in talks with O's surrounded around relief pitchers Gregory Soto and Seranthony Dominguez.
This would have been a great pick up for the Blue Jays as Soto is having solid year as he currently has a 3.96 ERA on the season in 36.1 innings pitched to go along with 44 strikeouts and 1 save.
Soto has made 45 appearances for Baltimore this season, posting an 0-2 record with 44 strikeouts in 35 and a third innings. -Taboada
The Blue Jays will unfortunately now have to look elsewhere for help in their bullpen which is unfortunate but the good news is that the trade deadline has still plenty of great options for them.
