Toronto Blue Jays newly acquired third baseman speaks on joining the organization
The Toronto Blue Jays signed Canadian third baseman Sam White to a minor league contract which he recently spoke on during an interview.
Sam White speaks on what it means to sign with his hometown team
The Blue Jays newly signed third baseman mentioned how Toronto has been his favorite team his entire life and he has been cheering for them since he was a kid with the dream of playing for them one day.
"I grew up cheering for the Blue Jays. They've been my favourite team my whole life," White said. "It's always been a dream to play for them." -White
Despite having a solid college career, White did suffer a torn labrum which he stated was not easy to come back from and likely dropped his rankings in the MLB draft.
"It was upsetting. I think I played really, really well," he said. "I showed that I can hold my own against some really good competition, but unfortunately, there was some doubt in certain people's eyes." -White
Even with the tough setback, White has been extremely optimistic stating that everything happens for a reason and that he is happy that he came out of all of it with a solid deal.
"Everything happens for a reason," White said. "I'm just happy I came out of it with an offer that I'm content with." -White
A couple days ago the Blue Jays took White off the IL and sent him to the Florida Complex League Blue Jays which means he has finally recovered from his injuries and can begin playing once again.
If White can progress through the ranks and one day be a starter for the Blue Jays, fans will surely love to see a hometown kid make it to the big leagues for the Blue Jays.
