Blue Jays sign free agent third baseman Sam White to a new deal
The Blue Jays announced today that they have agreed to terms with former University of West Virginia third baseman and Ontario native Sam White as he is headed home.
Sam White, who was projected to be a late-round MLB Draft pick, has signed a UDFA deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Canadian returns home.
#WVU's Sam White is headed back home as the Ontario native has signed a free agent deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.
White had a very solid season at WVU in 2025 and was expected to be a late round draft pick at the 2025 MLB draft but did not end up getting selected which led to him signing with the Blue Jays.
In 2025, White finished with 5 homeruns, 46 RBIs, an outstanding .361 batting average and .426 on base percentage in 51 games played.
With these type of numbers, it is surprising that White ended up going undrafted but at the same time every year there are player that end up slipping through the cracks which hopefully means the Blue Jays caught a good one.
It will be interesting to see how the young Ontario native ends up doing in his first few games of pro baseball and if he will have a real shot at playing in the majors one day.
