Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jeff Hoffman has been facing a lot of criticism lately and it looks like he doesn't have a problem with it according to his latest statement.
Hoffman has been under the microscope lately due to a few tough performances in a row where he ended up blowing a save and costing the Blue Jays the win.
Blue Jays Jeff Hoffman welcomes fans criticism
While fans have been quite harsh with Hoffman lately it is hard to say that it is not justified as he has had a few tough performances in a row in which have all resulted in losses.
During a recent interview, Hoffman stated that he welcomes fans criticism as he loves the fact that they expect them to win every night as he added that it is normal since they have such a good team.
«Everybody's here is trying to win, everybody wants to win. That's the Blue Jays fan so it's understandable. That's what happens when you are on a good team. People expect you to win every night That's good that they're booing, I like that, « -Hoffman
This is a great attitude from Hoffman which fans will likely appreciate but at the same time they don't need him to have a great attitude towards what they are saying, they simply need him to play better.
Manager John Schneider recently stated that if things continue to go this way the team will be forced to look at all their options and that could mean that Hoffman will be out as the team's closer.
Hoffman has overall ERA has jumped to 5.02 this season after a tough stretch over his last 7 games where his ERA is 11.37 including 10 hits, 8 earned runs, 4 walks and 4 strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched.
The Blue Jays are still one of the best teams in the MLB but their biggest weakness is their bullpen which has cost them an early playoff exit in the past.
If the Blue Jays truly do want to go deep this year they will need to figure it out and quickly as the playoffs and officially less than a month away.
